Favorite Memory:I decided to go to the top of Guinigi Tower. Starting out, my pace was brisk and ambitious. Half-way up, it slowed quite a bit, but I kept going and finally made it. Climbing the 227 steps to the top of Guinigi Tower afforded me some great views, and an even greater sense of accomplishment.
Travelers' Tips:It's not a bad idea to routinely include an umbrella in your daypack. Sometimes a storm can catch you unawares, and that umbrella which takes up just a little space in the bottom of your bag suddenly becomes your new best friend.
Accommodating Accommodations:Our visit to Lucca was a day trip, we didn't sleep there. But there are some cute looking little bed and breakfast places within this interesting walled city that I'd love to stay at someday.
Pinch Me. I Can't Believe We're Here! |
This Tuscan city is unique because its walls are fully intact, completely encircling the town. They are 30' high and 30' wide. Lots of people walk, jog, or bike along it. It is wide enough to allow a pleasant experience no matter which mode of transportation you choose.
